The Little Stars appeal was created to help support our smallest patients and their families on our Neonatal unit at Frimley Park Hospital. This Christmas, you can help our Neonatal unit by visiting Santa’s Grotto at Princes Mead and donating, the funds raised will go towards purchasing some incredible pieces of equipment which aren’t covered by the NHS.
Our Neonatal unit strive to deliver family centred care and encourage parents to be involved in all aspects of their babies care during their stay on the ward. The top of our Neonatal team’s wish list this Christmas would to be able to purchase a portable saturation monitor and apnoea monitors, which can be used both in the ward and at home.
Portable saturation monitors are used to monitor blood oxygen levels circulating in the patients’ blood, whilst apnoea monitors are used when premature babies come off oxygen. These babies often struggle with long pauses in their breathing until their lung tissue has fully developed, the apnoea monitors can detect these pauses
