2nd Cove Sea Scouts are celebrating a special birthday in 2021! Sixty years ago 2nd Cove Sea Scout Group was formed and during this time we’ve enjoyed over 60 young people in our group each year. It’s great that we’re still here providing a much needed service of scouting activities for all young people aged 6 – 14.
We have options and activities for all ages …
The Beaver Colony is the first and youngest section of the Scout Group. Beaver Scouts are young people aged between 6 and 8 years old. There is flexibility in the age range: young people can join from age 5¾.
Cub Scouts are young people aged between 8 and 10½, who make up the second section of the Scouting family, between Beavers and Scouts. In 2016, the Cub Scout Section celebrated its Centenary.
The Scout Section is for young people, usually aged between 10½ and 14 years. A young person can come into the Troop at 10 and may stay until they are 14½ years old. The Scout Troop is the third section in the Scout Group, above Beavers and Cubs. A Sea Scout Troop has the same purpose and values as any other Scout Troop, and delivers the same programme, but with a nautical twist. All young people in Scouting have the opportunity to enjoy water activities, but in Sea Scouting, considerable emphasis is on these activities, and many aspects of naval and nautical traditions are incorporated
