We are the Farnborough based local branch of the National Sands Charity, providing support to anyone affected by the loss of a baby.
Sands is here with a simple aim:
Supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve bereavement care and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.
As a local Sands group, our aim is to complement the services provided by the national charity via our work hosting support meetings, support groups on social media, arranging events such as our memorial and remembrance services, and through our trained and Sands qualified befrienders, who are here when you need someone to listen.
Fundraising efforts raise money to benefit the charity as a whole, supporting educational programs for medical professionals, research to support advances in care and clinical practice, and providing local events such as support meetings.
Our group is composed entirely of volunteers, all of whom have experienced loss themselves. While each loss is unique, there are many things that bring us together, and allow us to offer support during some of the most difficult times following loss.
